IRC Tutorial
Step 1: Download mirc! You can do that by clicking here: Download! 1,110 KB
Step 2: Install. Double click on the mirc591t.exe file that you have just downloaded and install it. When you are finished with that run the program and follow the instructions here.
Step 3: First time startup... If you want to get rid of the nag screen click the checkbox as shown and make sure there is no check mark showing:

Step 4: The mIRC Options dialog will pop up the fist time you run the program. Click the Add button as circled.

Step 5: Fill in this dialog exactly as you see here, then press the add button circled in red.

Step 6: You are back here at the mIRC options dialog. IRC Servers should have Tomes selected, and in the box below it TomesNET. This should come up automatically.
Now fill in the Full Name, E-Mail address, Nickname, and Alternative boxes with your own information. Alternative is the nickname to use if the one you chose is already taken (it shouldn't be). Then click the OK button as circled.

Step 7: Click the connect (thunderbolt) icon in the top corner.

You're all set, when the connectoin has completed, you can try the following:
/list - Displays a list of all the chat rooms available
/join - To join a chat room type this command, followed by # and the chat room (or channel) name. You can even create your own channel the same way! Like: /join #shield
/msg - This command sends a private message to another person. Type /msg username followed by your message. Like: /msg gatsu Hey there!
/nick - Use this command to change your nickname. Type /nick and your new nickname.
For more advanced users, this server includes services. So you can register your nickname so that nobody can take it from you. For more help with this feature type:
/msg nickserv help
If you start your own channel/chat room and want to keep it safe, you can use the channel registration service:
/msg chanserv help
